About a week ago I happened to be passing the cafe so I went in to buy lunch for myself and my hubby. I must say that the baguettes were delicious and generous in portion so you get your moneys worth. I've been in today with friends for a cup of tea and a chat. Keir was again friendly and welcoming. The service is great so I'll also be recommending the cafe to family and friends. Thank You, Samina Gardner Name:Ri'tsuko Date: 13/02/13 Comment: Tiffintime Café is one of a kind. It's just that I have spoken to the police last week and after the incident I feel terrible for what you did for my wife and son? It was extremely brave and courageous of you to stop the two lads who attempted to mug my wife.. Alice has told me so many times the way that you used your martial arts to disarm and restrain the two lads although it did not concern you and nobody else of all the people watching helped, only you did what you did! The police have a cctv footage and have seen for themselves of your skills and have praised you for being a hero in this very dangerous attack. Again the police have given me your shops adress but did not know where you lived so I can't thank you in person. The arresting officers have told me that you wish to remain anonymous and you did not want to be in the paper even when it comes to court. From the bottom of my court, Thankyou! I will come over to your shop to meet you this week and have taken the chance to put this in your doors. I just can't relax and sleep when I think of what could have happened if you had not used your expert martial arts to stop the lads who have done this. The bystanders also praised you and the bus driver also i extremely grateful for you defending him aswell. I remain in your debt, and look forward to meet with you in person. The Newspaper wants to interview you so badly and was talking about giving you a special heroes award for bravery? Until we meet. Extreme Thanks. Date: 27.05.12 Comment: Keir Cracknell's involvement in the community in Silverhill is more important than most people may think. His small business, the TiffinTime cafe located just over the road from the Co-Operative Retail store remains to this day, as it's ever been, a fantastic and thriving place to catch up with possibly one of the happiest and most thoughtful men in the area. Home to some great snacks, beverages and a place to unwind especially after or during a hectic day at the office or in whatever field you may be working in, service and a smile are always on the menu there. Keir's personality and typically good manner are an example of how small cafe based businesses should be run, with his excellent customer service, friendly approach and his usual good humour continuing traits of the things to expect when picking up a treat for the day. His business also allows for those who have been affected by the smoking ban and by taking other people's considerations at heart and listening to what the customer wants and expects, it's no surprise as to why Keir's business is as successful as it every was, with local customers speaking it's praises and recommending it on a daily basis. Keir's support for the community also bears much to his personality and thought towards everyone else is another reason why it is impossible not to get along with him. From coming into other businesses for a chat and a catch up to protecting others from public nuisances and those who threaten to ruin the good grace and peace in the small area of Silverhill, his involvement is a credit to all, and one that has certainly had a positive impact on those who know and love him, as well as his loyal customers who still to this day continue to spend their money on his products. Keir Cracknell is a man I miss from when he came into the Co-Operative Retail to buy food, and a man who's quaint little cafe I would recommend to anyone. Date: 12.09.11 Comment: Hello Keir, It was good to see you and Ritsuko today. I was impressed with your shop, its layout, cleniness, and the food range menu was impressive, and displayes. Fmaily photos, collection of teapots and warm surroundings. It makes a visitor and customer feel very relaxed, But the bit that truly strucked me apart from the quality of your superb coffee was the little courtyard/ patio, that is very continental. I cannot think of anywhere with a similar feature. I simply loved it!! Of course here in Robertsbridge Village we have Jempsons where you can relax el fresco on the corner and break your dentures on a crusty roll, and breath in the fumes of passing busses, lorries, and cars. Indeed, as i returned this morning an elderly was soaking a current bun in a anaemuc looking drinking chocolate, with a sou-wester rammed over her forehead. Raindrops dripping down a plastic mac onto her tweed skirt. Oh what it is to experience the culture of the countryside.Love to you and your family. See you soon. Name: Stewart Bryant (Professional Photographer & Environmental Health Hastings) Date: 13.01.12 Comment: As soon as you enter Tiffin Time you are transported back to a time when true customer service and showmanship was a way of life. Sadly today, so many shops and eateries have no idea what customer service is. However one visit to Keir's wonderful eatery will change all that. As soon as you enter, a warm heartfelt welcome awaits. The fresh food and lively discussion make one think back to the cafe culture of Italy and Sicily. Not only does Keir treat his cafe as an extension of his front room, he can do all manor of wonderful food both within the confines of the shop and out on location. Over the past year Keir has supplied the Local council branch of Unison fabulous fresh made food, always delivered on time with a smile and a cheer. Keir is a true master of culinary delights and a sense of humour!! Name: Rosalie Copeland Date: 17.03.12 Comment: Hi Keir! Thank you so much for taking care of Joyce; I seriously doubt that she will ever take those photos of that poor man down, 'cos I have tried for ages. She still holds on to guilt that she let him down, and nothing that we do or say or pray about helps her to put that down to just life and experience. The photos have always bothered me, ever since I met her, but Joyce is a special little lady that has such an individual response to things that you and I might be better able to deal with. What I can say, however, is that, when we first met she was deep in depression, but now that is no longer the case, thankfully. Hope to see you again real soon!. So here is the letter I sent. To the Editor In these days of speed, technology etc. in so many areas, we often now seem to have lost the art of really experiencing one to one contact with our fellow man. But the good people of Silverhill have a place that is a hidden gem - namely, Tiffin Time, a small cafe owned and run by Keir Cracknell, at 10 Sedlescombe Road North. I have visited several times, the last time after a visit to my doctor, and feeling rather poorly, needing to rest and recuperate before going back home. At Keir's place I found such a warm and caring atmosphere, that he gives to every person that goes there, and it is genuine. Not only is Keir a very experienced chef, which guarantees that you get good food, but the community spirit that is there, thanks to Keir's real love of people, is something so rare. This little place is adorned with so many interesting photos, news clips, and contributions from local people, that it is a "home from home" atmosphere. I was fed, coffee'd and nurtured, and by the time I left, was feeling so much better about everything, hence this letter to simply tell the folk of Hastings that they are missing out on a treat if they don't visit this lovely little cafe. I hope that we never lose these small private businesses that offer personal service, and this one is a tremendous example of that - I cannot express enough how good it is to go there and be taken such care of. Let us all support and cherish any business that is run with such expertise and personal service - they are becoming so rare. I take my hat off to you, Keir, for all the hard work and kindness that I find every time I go there; long may you continue to bless us all! Can I suggest that you might consider a news item on this cafe? It is so much more than just somewhere to get a coffee or eat, but it provides a place of such welcome and warmth that it truly exists to support the local community and inspire healthy and friendly communication between people, something that is slowly being eroded from society nowadays. If one of your news team were to visit to find out for themselves, and interview Keir I feel that maybe they would be inspired to highlight this place, as a source of good news to Hastings and St. Leonards - heaven knows, we can all benefit from that! Sincerely, Rosalie Copeland Name: Philip Newton (3 Oaks, East Sussex) Date: 28.03.11 Comment: Hi Keir, First of all wishing you and all your family a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. For my 60th birthday I asked Keir to organise the food for 40 guests. I provided the sea food and other basic ingredients and then left it to Keir and his 2 young assistants. There was no need for any worries! The presentation was outstanding the salads and the service provided was excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending Keir to anyone who is considering a caterer for any wedding reception, company celebration or party.
